Yellowstone

Went to Yellowstone for Labor Day weekend. It was nice to get away and see mom again. All the stupid people were present, walking up to Bison and Elk, walking on the geyser basin's crust, etc. All the rent-a-RV's were also there, we counted about 41 or so depending on who you ask, that was a debate almost every time we saw one. Anyway, mom picked me up at the dorms... residence halls, whatever you want to call them Friday evening and we headed to Landers and spent the night there. We went the rest of the way on Saturday. We immediately went to Old Faithful, or the 'Big water spouty thingy' as one of the passengers called it. Watched it go off after the moose psyched us out for 10 minutes. Went to a couple of the other geyser basins including the one that contained Grand Prismatic, which is gorgeous, before heading to the cabins in the Canyon area. The next morning we got up pretty early and headed through Lamar Valley and saw some Bison. Headed up to the Northern 'official' entrance of the park and had biscuits and gravy for breakfast in Gardiner, Montana. Headed back down to Yellowstone and walked around there a bit. Found a rib and vertebrae as well as lots of ladybugs. Still puzzled by why there were so many ladybugs on the shore. It's always pretty down by the lake. After we stopped for a picnic in near by Seagull point, which consisted of homemade bruschetta with homegrown tomatoes and basil. Very good! We headed to the Grand Canyon in Yellowstone after arguments of where the falls on the front of one of the guidebooks was. After waiting for someone to take the perfect picture we headed to Norris Geyser basin. Those geysers are so colorful. It's so dry on the West side of the park. The geyser basins looked really low, but once we crossed over to teh East side on the first day we were met with POURING rain. We had some fun watching the automatic wind shield wipers my moms new car had. We ended the trip by being woken up by our neighbors, who kept us up the night before but before we could get our revenge by waking them up they woke us up. We started out through the East entrance and came back through way of Cody then heading South, hoping to avoid the major construction they had going on on a huge part of 287. I came back and immediately did laundry and homework I thought was due the next day, but the professor had moved the due date by a week. That was fun to find out after I spent over an hour doing it. The week went by fast enough, didn't have history on Friday because the professor just gave us the day off. Lounged about for a majority of the weekend. We had a football game on Saturday, I didn't go. Apparently Wyo lost. Just finished up homework today. And now I'm typing this blog while in the union, listening to music and texting friends. The computer doesn't recognize 'texting' as a word and keeps telling me it's spelled wrong.
